2025
Singapore Health Quality Service Awards
Ren Ci had another strong showing at the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards 2025, receiving 97 Silver, 35 Gold, 5 Star and 1 Superstar awards for a total of 138 winners. Our Superstar this year, Ms Rachel Soh, is a Senior Community Care Associate at our Senior Care Centre @ Ang Mo Kio. Her keen observation and attention to detail, coupled with her creative ways of coming up with way to engage our seniors, clinched her the Superstar award this year.
Silver Touchstone Award

Ren Ci Hospital has been awarded the Silver Touchstone Award for the Evidence-Based Human-Centered Design of our Community Hospital's renovation. Our submission was reviewed by multiple jurors who used specific criteria to evaluate the design. One of the judges commented that the research-informed design practices that the team used was ideal for generating human-centered design solutions and best practices as it was rooted in Design Thinking exercises to collect and synthesize user information.

2024
Promising Social Worker Award

Ren Ci Medical Social Worker Louisa Bielig was conferred the Promising Social Worker Award 2024 for her incredible dedication to the profession. The Promising Social Worker Award (PSWA) was introduced in 2008. It accords recognition to Social Workers who are newer in the field but have nonetheless made a difference in the lives of their clients as well as the community. Our warmest congratulations go out to Louisa!

Progressive Wage Mark Plus

Ren Ci Hospital has been accredited with the Progressive Wage Mark Plus for paying Progressive Wages and adopting the Tripartite Standard on Advancing Well-Being of Lower-Wage Workers to uplift lower-wage workers.

Tan Chin Tuan Award for Enrolled Nurses (Merit)

The prestigious Tan Chin Tuan Nursing Award for Enrolled Nurses honours outstanding Enrolled Nurses who are committed to advancing the nursing profession and represents the pinnacle of distinction for Enrolled Nurses. This year, Ren Ci Senior Enrolled Nurse Khin Lay Nwe was honoured with a Merit award. As one of just 12 finalists, we are very glad that her warmth, compassion and dedication to the Nursing profession was recognised at this platform. Congratulations!

Charity Transparency & Governance Awards

Ren Ci received the Charity Transparency Award (CTA), our seventh since the inception of the award. In addition to the CTA, this year, Ren Ci has also been awarded the Charity Governance Award - Special Commendation for Clarity of Strategy. Charities with exemplary practices in particular areas of governance will be conferred special commendation as part of the Charity Governance Award platform. As there is usually only one community care organisation awarded per special commendation category, we are especially honoured to have been recognised at this platform.

Healthcare Humanity Awards

We are happy to share that Ren Ci received a grand total of four awards at the Healthcare Humanity Awards 2024! The Ren Ci Home Care team received the Team Award, while Ms Kristine Ang, Ms Louisa Bielig and Ms Priscilla Chng received Individual Awards in the Selflessness and Resilience Categories. Ren Ci is incredibly proud of our staff who exemplify the values that the HHA stands for - Compassion, Courage, Resilience, Selflessness and Teamwork. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition! 

Community Care Manpower Development & Excellence Awards

5 Ren Ci staff received the Community Care Manpower Development Award (CCMDA), while 25 staff received the Individual Silver Community Care Excellence Award (CCEA). Our staff also won 1 Individual Gold and 1 Team Gold Award for their use of robotic process automation to automate daily time-consuming financial counselling documents and designing the HERE Together programme, which brings together multisensory, psychological and spiritual components to enhance the quality of life for persons who are bed-bound and no longer verbally communicative. These awards recognise Ren Ci's effort in continuously developing talent and strive for excellence.

17th Singapore HR Awards

Ren Ci was honoured with 2 prestigious awards at the 17th Singapore HR Awards. We received a Bronze Excellence in Employee Experience & Well-Being Award, and were also the only recipient for the Excellence in Transformation & Innovation Award! These awards are testament to Ren Ci's commitment to excellence and we are extremely proud of our teams that work tirelessly to constantly innovate, creating value and excellence at work.

Singapore Health Quality Awards 2024

MOH Nurses' Merit Award 2024

Senior Nurse Manager Varadhan Arivazhagi was awarded the MOH Nurses' Merit Award 2024 for her significant contributions to the profession and constantly demonstrating her commitment and passion for delivering exceptional care, with a strong interest in the field of dementia. SNM Ariva is also generous with her knowledge; she is always seen coaching new and junior nurses so that they can perform at a high level of competency, raising the level of care provided by the nurses under her wing.

Singapore Health Inspirational Patient & Caregiver Awards 2023

The Singapore Health Inspirational Patient & Caregiver Awards was started in 2010 to celebrate these inspirational individuals, and to encourage other patients and caregivers in their journeys. Ren Ci ex-Chronic Sick Unit resident, Mr Kang Yong Hui, was nominated for his thoughtful efforts to cheer up our staff during the pandemic despite his difficult circumstances. His determination to continually improve led to his discharge from our CSU and into the care of our Home Care team.

Enabling Mark (Silver) 2023

Ren Ci has been awarded the Enabling Mark (Silver) 2023. The Enabling Mark is a national-level accreditation framework by SG Enable that benchmarks and recognises organisations for their best practices and outcomes in disability-inclusive employment. Ren Ci has redesigned some job roles and responsibilities, which allow us to provide meaningful employment to people with different abilities.

With 1 Superstar, 2 Star, 6 Gold and 48 Silver awardees, Ren Ci was recognised at the annual Singapore Health Quality Service Awards 2023. These awards affirm our dedication and efforts to serving our patients, residents and clients with heart and hope. Congratulations to all winners!

President's Certificate of Commendation

Ren Ci received the President’s Certificate of Commendation (COVID-19), presented at the Investiture of the National Awards (COVID-19). This award is given to organisations and teams that made exceptional efforts which had significant impact during the pandemic. It is a testament to the hard work, dedication and sacrifices of our staff who went beyond their call of duty for the national effort.

2022
National Award (COVID-19)

It was announced that Ren Ci would be awarded the President’s Certificate of Commendation in recognition of our efforts to care for the seniors as well as our contributions in the fight against COVID-19. In addition, both our outgoing and incoming CEOs Mr Joe Hau and Dr Jamie Lim were conferred the Public Administration Silver Medal (COVID-19). Former Chief Nurse, Mdm Sim Teck Meh and Deputy Directors of Nursing, Ms Betty Khong and Ms Tan Tzuu Ling were also awarded the Public Service Medal (COVID-19) for leading their respective teams to ensure infection control and safe management measures and facilitated vaccination efficiently for staff and seniors.

Singapore Patients Action Awards

Two of our long-serving volunteer groups, Aspiration and Twinklehearts, received the Singapore Patient Support Volunteer Group Awards at the annual Singapore Patients Action Awards 2022. For the past 28 years, Aspiration have provided haircuts for the long-term care residents at Ren Ci Chronic Sick Unit (CSU) and Ren Ci @ Ang Mo Kio nursing home. Twinklehearts, the other recognised group, regularly runs activities for residents at Ren Ci’s CSU since 1997. They have expanded to organise monthly birthday celebrations and virtual activities, group outings and mass celebrations.

Charity Transparency Award

This accolade is a nod to Ren Ci’s continued efforts in adopting good transparency standards and maintaining high accountability to our stakeholders. We will continue our commitment to upkeep Ren Ci’s reputation as a well-governed and responsible community care organisation; one which engages partners, donors and volunteers openly and meaningfully to deliver better care to Ren Ci’s beneficiaries.

Excellence Champion Medal

"Smart Geofencing System (SGS) for Residents' Safety" was awarded the Excellence Champion Medal, for the National Healthcare Innovation and Productivity (HIP) Medals 2022. SGS uses RFID technology to track & record movements of residents with dementia at Ren Ci @ Ang Mo Kio, to keep residents with the tendency to wander out of the households/wards and facility safe. The system has since been scaled and deployed to our other facilities. This use of innovative technology enhances the standard of our care, achieve greater efficiency and excellence to benefit our seniors.

AIC Community Care Excellence Awards

201 of our staff clinched the AIC Community Care Excellence Awards (CCEA) 2022, including 2 Gold Award winners. The award criteria had been adjusted to recognise our efforts during the COVID-19 fight over three years. Winners have contributed to COVID-related work on top of providing outstanding service to internal/external stakeholders.

ASOCIO Outstanding User Organisation Award

The annual ASOCIO Awards are prestigious IT awards honouring individuals, agencies, organisations and enterprises in the 24 ASOCIO member countries with outstanding achievements and contributions to the IT sector. CARES4WOUNDS, our innovative 3D wound management system, clinched the ASOCIO Outstanding User Organisation Award 2022, with Ren Ci Hospital being the sole organisation from Singapore to have won this accolade this year, together with other winners from Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Laos.

Public Administration Medal (Bronze) National Day Awards 2022

The Singapore National Day Awards are a means of recognising various forms of merit and service to Singapore. We are happy to share that Ren Ci CEO, Mr Joe Hau, was conferred the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) National Day Awards 2022.

MOH Nurses' Merit Award 2022

Senior Nurse Manager Toh Cheng Yen received the Nurses' Merit Award this year. Having spent over two decades in nursing, Cheng Yen exemplifies the heart of the profession with her dedication to the care of our seniors, especially those with dementia. As part of her way of caring for her patients, she goes out of her way to learn their preferences and engages them through gestures such as preparing them morning coffee and desserts. This thoughtfulness allows her and her team to connect with them and enhance their care. She has also played a key role in upholding the safe management measures within Ren Ci.

SingHealth Inspirational Patient & Caregiver Awards

Two of our caregivers, Mdm Linda Chan and Mr Minhat Bin Ismail, won at the SingHealth Inspirational Patient & Caregiver Awards. These awards honour individuals for their strength, courage and resilience in the face of health challenges, as well as outstanding patient support groups that have provided invaluable support to patients and caregivers.

Singapore Health Quality Service Awards 2022

Ren Ci clinched a grand total of 489 winners across the various categories at the annual SingHealth Quality Service Awards, including one Superstar Award. Organised by the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre since 2011, the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards is Singapore’s first dedicated platform to honour outstanding healthcare professionals who have delivered quality care and excellent service to patients.

Singapore Health Quality Service Awards 2021

Along with the Super Hero Award, Ren Ci is proud to have 275 COVID Heroes who have demonstrated exemplary contributions and outstanding teamwork during this pandemic. Congratulations to all healthcare workers for working together to serve with heart and hope.

MSF Community Cares Award 2021

Ren Ci received the MSF Community Cares Award in recognition for our contributions in journeying with them to drive social change, strive to do good for society and inspire the community. By harnassing learning journeys and internships for youths, we continue to do our part in sharing employment opportunities and knowledge on the Community Care sector.

MOH Nurses' Merit Award 2021

Zuraidah Binte Sulaiman was awarded the Nurses' Merit Award 2021 for her unwavering commitment to caring for the wellbeing of those under her care, especially in the areas of nursing clinical standards and supervising nurses on managing patients with fever or infections. A graduate from the National Collaborative Prescribing Programme, APN Zuraidah is also certified to prescribe medicines.

Enabling Mark (Silver) Award

Ren Ci is honoured to receive the Enabling Mark (Silver) Award, a national-level accreditation by SG Enable that benchmarks and recognises organisations for their practices and outcomes in disability-inclusive hiring. We actively work with partners to match suitable candidates to job roles across our facilities and will continue to embrace and support disability inclusion in our workplace.

Singapore Health Quality Service Awards 2020

Following last year success at the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards, Ren Ci again recorded 169 awardees, including 1 Superstar winner, Head of Social Work & Counselling, Ms Bridget Monica Das, and a Best Team Award (Patient Experience Improvement Category) in which our multi-disciplinary project team worked together to fine-tune the finanace assistance process for our patients. Congratulations to all winners! 

MOH Nurses' Merit Award 2020

Lingaraj Prabha, the newly minted MOH Nurses' Merit Award 2020 recipient in recognition for her unwavering commitment to care for the seniors’ well-being. Her achievement is a testament of our efforts to serve with heart and hope, making a difference in the lives of our patients on their road to recovery.

Community Care Excellence Award 2020

Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) celebrates Community Care Day, a day to recognise and appreciate the hard work and dedication of all who work in the Community Care sector. Ren Ci received a record-breaking number of 60 award recipients from the individual and team categories. MSW Nur Sahara B Kamsani bagged the individual Gold award for her commitment to support caregivers beyond the call of duty. We also have 58 Silver awards and one Team award under client experience improvement category.

Singapore Health Inspirational Patient & Caregiver Awards 2020

Two dedicated caregivers, 72-yo Mr Ng Buan Hian and 81-yo Riechard Ang, both husband of our residents at BBNH clinched the inspirational caregiver awards for their commitment and devotion to their wife while 82-yo Madam Barbara Tan the winner of the inspirational patient award. 

Outstanding Social Worker Award 2020

Head of Psychosocial Services, Ms Bridget Monica Das conferred Outstanding Social Worker Award 2020. This is the highest accolade in the social work profession and is given by the Singapore Association of Social Workers (SASW), with support from the Ministry of Social and Family Development, in recognition of outstanding contributions by dedicated social workers in Singapore to the social service, healthcare or community sector.

Singapore Health Quality Service Awards 2019

Ren Ci recorded 176 awardees Singapore Health Quality Service Awards 2019 which include 1 Superstar winner, Director of Clinical Quality Management Unit, Dr Kala Kanagasabai. The Superstar award is the highest individual accolade.

Healthcare Humanities Award 2019

Assistant Director for Nursing, Madam Mak Ngai Khan and Senior Medical Social Worker, Sahara Kamsani were both named the winners under the ILTC category for their exemplary work and contribution to the care of our seniors. Long serving volunteer leader, Mr Ng Hock Chuan was recognised at the ceremony under the Volunteers category for his unwavering support to patients and residents.

For the fourth consecutive year, Ren Ci received the Charity Transparency Award as a recognition to charities with good disclosure practices.

President's Award for Nurses 2019

Former Chief Nurse, Madam Jenny Sim Teck Meh was conferred President's Award for Nurses 2019, the highest accolade in the nursing nursing profession, given in recognition of outstanding nurses for their significant contributions to the nursing profession and community.

Two department heads, Dr Kala Kanagasabai and Ms Bridget Monica Das from Clinical Quality Management Unit and Social Work & Counselling respectively were recognised with the Community Care Excellence Award (Gold).

Community Care Manpower Development Award 2018

9 therapists and nurses were awarded the prestigious award to further their studies and training to better serve our seniors.   

Healthcare Humanity Award 2018

Senior Medical Social Worker, Ms Alice Choo was named one of the winners for the fifteen edition of Health Humanity Award.

Singapore Health Quality Service Award 2018

163 awards were bagged by Ren Ci including one Superstar awardees, Sister Lingaraj Prabja for going the extra miles to learn local dialects to better her communications with her senior patients. The Superstar award is the highest accolades bestowed to an individual. 

2017
Charity Transparency Awards 2017

Minister from Culture, Community and Youth, Ms Grace Fu, presented the award to Ren Ci Hospital. This was the second time Ren Ci was recognized with the honour for good disclosure practices. 

National Parks Board Skyrise Greenery Awards 2017

The therapeutic garden at our Bukit Batok nursing home was conferred the Skyrise Greenery Awards by National Parks Board for creatively and seamlessly integrating sky gardens and greenery into the home.

Community Care Manpower Development Award (CCMDA) 2017

Four staff received the award from Senior Minister of State for Health, Dr Amy Khor on 5 September 2017 to further their studies and training. The recipients were Ms Cheah Ann Nee, Ms Cherie Ling, Ms Nalina Kumari Resmi and Ms Chynna Lim. 

Nurses’ Merit Award 2017

Nurse Manager from Ren Ci @ Bukit Batok St. 52, Mr Nelson Coronado Rosales was awarded the prestigious Nurses’ Merit Award for his outstanding contribution in the ILTC sector.

14th Healthcare Humanity Award – Intermediate Long-Term Care (ILTC) Category

Senior consultant and Director of Clinical Quality Management Unit, Dr Kalaimamani d/o Kanagasabai was one of the recipients of the 14th Healthcare Humanity Award.

Singapore Health Quality Service Award (SHQSA) 2017

Nurse Educator, Ms Pauline Ang was accorded the highest accolade in the Superstar category. Ms Nalina Kumari Resmi, Clinical Instructor clinched the Silver Award with Dr Katherine and team winning the Best Team (Merit) award.

Mrs Tan Shook Fong – PSS Innovation and Scientific Research Award 2016

The Pharmacy Innovation and Research Award was presented to Ren Ci Hospital for the collaborative project between the Pharmacy and Nursing departments. The project “Self-administration of Medication Programme”, which aims to prepare patients to manage their own post-discharge medication medication, won praises from the panel of judges at the inaugural Mrs Tan Shook Fong – Innovation and Scientific Research Award 2016 given by the Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore (PSS).

ILTC Excellence Awards 2016

Ren Ci Hospital bettered its achievement two years ago by winning a total of 56 awards with 3 Gold, 50 Silver, 2 Team Merit Clinical Quality Improvement and 1 Team Merit Productivity and Innovation awards. 

Charity Transparency Award 2016

Ren Ci first won the Special Commendation Award for strong improvement in Corporate Governance and Management at the Charity Governance Awards (CGA) in 2014. And in 2016, we were named as one of the winners in the inaugural Charity Transparency Awards (CTA) 2016.

Community in Bloom (CIB) Awards 2016

Held biennially by NParks, the awards recognise excellence in gardening efforts by community groups in Public and Private Housing Estates, Educational Institutions and Organisations. Ren Ci @ Bukit Batok St. 52 was amongst the 73 organisations to receive a Silver Award for engaging staff and volunteers to cultivate a community garden on the rooftop garden.

National Safety & Security Watch Group (SSWG) Award 2016

Together with Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, we were conferred the Outstanding Cluster Award. This award is organised by the Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force, in recognition of SSWG members’ efforts in keeping the workplace safe and secure.

Healthcare Humanity Awards 2016

Nurse Manager (NM) Vijayaletchimi Mahesh and Ms Bridget Monica Das, Head of Social Work & Counselling department received The Courage Fund’s 2016 Healthcare Humanity Awards in the Intermediate Long-term Care (ILTC) Category.

National Health IT Excellence Awards 2016

Ren Ci Hospital added a new accolade for IT Excellence in Digitised Care to Achieve One Healthcare System on 20 May 2016. We were amongst the five community hospitals, to receive recognition for participating and supporting the Electronic Medical Records (EMR), implemented by the Integrated Health Information Systems with MOH Holdings. The goal was to IT-enable community hospitals and leverage a common IT platform to foster closer collaboration between institutions and improve the level of patient-centric care and coordination along the care continuum. 

Singapore Health Inspirational Patient Award 2016

Congratulations to winners of the Inspirational Patient Awards, Mdm Chew Eng Huay from Ren Ci Nursing Home (Moulmein) and Mr Majid Bin Abdul Salam from Ren Ci @ Bukit Batok St. 52, as well as caregiver Mdm Juliana Ang, who clinched the Inspirational Caregiver Award. The Singapore Health Inspirational Patient & Caregiver Awards pay tribute to patients who have displayed exemplary qualities of courage, strength, resilience, and a zest for life that all of us can learn from, as well as recognises caregivers for their dedication in improving the health outcomes of their loved ones.

Healthcare Quality Society of Singapore (HQSS) Forum 2016 – Best Oral Presentation Award

This is the third win for Ren Ci Hospital at this event, three years in a row. Presented by Min Min Aung, Senior Quality Executive and team leader, this project “Am I subacute or rehab?” explored interventions to better identify subacute patients in Ren Ci Community Hospital so as to deliver appropriate level of care and achieve cost savings due to better funding allocation. Congratulations to Min Aung and his team members!

Ren Ci Hospital clinched a total of 19 awards including 1 Superstar, 10 Star, 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Team recognition.

Singapore Health Inspirational Patient & Caregiver Award 2015

Former resident from Ren Ci Nursing Home (Moulmein) Mr Marzuki Bin Repu and Mr Woo Sen Chuan, a dedicated caregiver who took care of his wife who is currently staying at the hospital's Chronic Sick Unit. 

Singapore Health Quality Service Award 2015

Ren Ci Hospital walked away with 16 Gold Awards, 3 Star Awards and 1 Silver Award.

ILTC Quality Festival 2015 – 1 Gold Award and 2 Merit Awards for Poster Competition

 “See – No Tube, I Can Breathe” , a project to wean tracheostomy patients off the dependance on tube won gold while two projects won merit awards for improving human resource and manpower documentation and increasing the efficiency of archiving records.

Charity Governance Awards 2014

Ren Ci Hospital clinched the Special Commendation Award for strong improvement in Corporate Governance and Management.

ILTC Excellence Awards 2014

Ren Ci staff won a total of 1 Gold and 44 Silver under the individual category with 6 Good Suggestion Awards and 5 Good Practice Awards. 

National Occupational Therapy Conference 2014

A poster developed by our occupational therapist entitled “Beyond BADLs: Addressing Priorities and Occupational Needs in the Community” was one of the 10 posters selected for display at the conference. A first for our staff to showcase a project at a prestigious event on occupational therapy.

National Seminar on Productivity in Healthcare & ILTC Quality Festival 2014

Seven posters were selected on display at the festival showcasing Ren Ci's committment to improving productivity in bettering care delivery. 

Asian Hospital Management Award 2014

Our rehabilitation department won the Excellence Award at the Asian Hospital Management Awards (AHMA). The winning project entry “ONE Program”, which improved the quality of life of our nursing home residents through engaging them in a wide range of activities. The recognition beat 82 hospitals in 12 countries to emerge as the winner in the Human Resource Development category. This award is Ren Ci’s second achievement at the AHMA, following the Gold Award from the previous year for an initiative to cut waste.

Healthcare Humanity Award 2014

Our principal physiotherapist, Lim Kong Beng received the Healthcare Humanity Award 2014. Kong Beng took no pay leave for a year and uprooted his family to carry out missionary work in a village at East Timor. One of the burn victims, whom he helped to nurse and rehabilitate, has gone on to get his degree in Indonesia.

Healthcare Quality Symposium 2014

Ren Ci dominated the quality improvement projects showcased at the Symposium and swept the awards for our patient-focused projects like the "Reducing Fall Incidents in Cognitively-Impaired Patients". 

Singapore Rehab Conference 2014 – Best Poster Presentation Award

Ren Ci bagged the best poster presentation award for an integrated multidisciplinary programme which engages nursing home residents in meaningful activities and exercise.

AIC ILTC Night 2014

Ren Ci emerged as the winner for the performance segment. The team weaved a touching story titled “Life Silhouette” through a creative shadow play, which won the hearts of the judges and audience. The motivation behind the storyboard came from one of our performing members. She shared, “We want to show love and care to our patients, hope that they will be able to go home someday to be with their family and live in the community.”

Singapore Health Quality Service Award 2013

Ren Ci went home with 5 gold, 82 silver individual awards, along with 1 Special Mention Award (Clinical Practice Improvement category) and 1 Merit Award (Service Initiative Improvement category). 

Asian Hospital Management Award 2013

The Gold award under Cost-reduction category went to Ren Ci Wastebusters Programme. 

MOH Nurses Merit Award 2013

Clinical Instructor, Pauline Ang won the pretigious award for her dedication and determination in caring for seniors in need.

MOH HQI Conference 2012 – 2 Commendation Awards for Poster Competition

Two posters on the theme of reducing falls in Ren Ci Community Hospital and wound care management won commendation awards at the conference.

ILTC Quality Festival 2012 – 2 Merit Awards for Poster Competition

In another poster competition, the use of infection control precaution charts and proper use of PPE at the community hospital won 2 Merits award.

MOH Nurses Merit Award 2012

Assistant Director of Nursing, Mdm Mak Ngai Khan who have contributed tirelessly in her decades of service to Ren Ci won the recognition.
