Our Story
Our story began in 1994, with a single Chronic Sick Unit with 174 beds at the former Woodbridge Hospital in Hougang. Five years later, in 1999, we took over seven pavilion wards in Moulmein (the former wards of Tan Tock Seng Hospital) to open our first nursing home. Since then, Ren Ci has grown to operate a total of 1301 beds across a community hospital in Novena and three nursing homes in Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Batok and Woodlands. Ren Ci @ Woodlands is our newest 332-bed nursing home, which operationalised in February 2024.
Annually, we serve more than 2,000 patients, residents and clients, the majority of whom suffer from multiple medical conditions and come from low-income families. We currently provide sub-acute care, palliative care, long-term residential care, rehabilitation, day care and home care services.
Ren Ci Hospital is guided by the principles of loving kindness and compassion to provide holistic and affordable medical, nursing and rehabilitative care services to the elderly and underprivileged regardless of one’s background, race and religion.
With strong partnerships and support from donors, volunteers and the community, Ren Ci Hospital continues to serve our beneficiaries with heart and hope.
Ren Ci Hospital also gratefully acknowledges the many contributions made by Mr Ong Pang Boon, Mr Yam Kum Weng and Ms Yu-Foo Yee Shoon since the early days of our charity. Under their guidance, we have gone from strength to strength.
